Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 28, 2026 · Effective date: May 19, 2026
Short version: HypedUp Live collects very little data. We do not require an account, we do not collect your email, and your camera and microphone are used locally on your device only — they are never recorded or transmitted. Your device generates an anonymous ID on first use so we can save your preferences and session history.
1. Who We Are
HypedUp Live ("the App," "we," "our") is an iOS application developed and operated as an individual business registered in Israel. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use the App.
For questions or requests regarding your privacy, contact us at: support@hypedup.live
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Display name: A nickname you choose optionally for use within the app. This is not verified or linked to your real identity.
- Profile photo: An optional photo you select from your device's photo library, stored locally and in our database to personalize your in-app avatar.
2.2 Information Generated Automatically
- Device identifier (Device ID): A random UUID generated on first launch and stored locally on your device. This ID is anonymous and not linked to your Apple ID, name, email, or any other personal identifier. It is used to save your preferences, streak data, and session history.
- Session data: When you use the live rehearsal feature, we store session statistics including duration, chosen vibe, simulated viewer count, simulated likes, and simulated gift count. All of this data is fictional (simulated) and is stored only to show you your personal history.
- Streak data: The dates on which you used the app, stored locally and synced to our servers to maintain your practice streak.
2.3 Analytics Data (PostHog)
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the app is used in aggregate. PostHog may collect:
- Screen views and navigation flows (anonymized)
- Feature interactions (e.g., which vibes are selected, session start/end events)
- Device type, operating system version, app version
- General location (country/region level only — we do not collect precise GPS location)
PostHog data is anonymized and associated with your Device ID only. We do not share your Device ID with PostHog in a way that allows PostHog to identify you personally.
2.4 Camera and Microphone
Important: The app uses your device's camera and microphone to display a live preview on screen during practice sessions. Your camera feed and microphone audio are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. We have no remote access to your video or audio.
2.4.1 Optional Session Recording (Pro Feature)
Pro subscribers may optionally enable session recording. When enabled, the app records your practice session and saves the video file locally on your device only — in the app's private storage directory. These recordings are:
- Never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service.
- Never shared without your explicit action (e.g., you choosing to share or export the file).
- Accessible only through the app's Saved tab or your device's Files app.
- Deleted permanently when you remove the recording within the app or uninstall the app.
You may also choose to export a recording to your device's photo library using the app's "Save to Library" function, at which point the file is governed by your device's standard media library settings.
2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your real name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- Your Apple ID or any linked identity provider credentials
- Precise location or GPS data
- Payment information (in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple)
- Video or audio recordings — these are stored locally on your device only and never transmitted to us
- Contacts, calendar, or other device data
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide app functionality: Your Device ID and session data allow us to save your streak, preferences, and session history across device restarts.
- Personalize your experience: Your display name and profile photo are shown within the app as your avatar.
- Improve the app: Aggregated analytics data helps us understand which features are most used, detect bugs, and prioritize improvements.
- Deliver OTA updates: Expo (our app delivery platform) uses technical identifiers to deliver over-the-air app updates.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data only with the following service providers to operate the app:
- Convex Inc. (database infrastructure) — stores your Device ID, display name, session statistics, and streak data on servers located in the United States.
- PostHog Inc. (product analytics) — receives anonymized usage events. Data may be processed in the United States or European Union.
- Expo (Expo Technology, Inc.) (app delivery and OTA updates) — used to deliver app updates. Expo may receive technical identifiers. Data processed in the United States.
- Apple Inc. — all in-app purchases are processed by Apple under their own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.
Each of these providers is contractually bound to use your data only as directed by us and in accordance with applicable privacy law.
5. Data Retention
- Device ID and profile data: Retained until you delete the app or request deletion. If you reinstall the app, a new Device ID is generated.
- Session history: Retained for 12 months from the date of each session, then automatically deleted.
- Analytics data: Retained for 24 months in anonymized form.
- After account deletion: We will delete your data within 30 days of your request, except where retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights
Under the Israeli Privacy Protection Act, 5741-1981, and applicable data protection principles, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right of correction: You may request that we correct any inaccurate data we hold.
- Right of deletion: You may request deletion of all personal data associated with your Device ID. To exercise this right, email support@hypedup.live with the subject "Delete My Data." We will process your request within 30 days.
- Right to object: You may object to the processing of your data for analytics purposes at any time by contacting us.
- Right to lodge a complaint: You may file a complaint with the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority (PPA) at gov.il.
To exercise any of these rights, contact: support@hypedup.live
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Users between 13 and 17 may use the App with parental consent.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls on our backend systems, and anonymized analytics. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use the app on a secure device and network.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers (Convex, PostHog, Expo) are based in the United States. By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. We take steps to ensure adequate protection through the use of standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements where required.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Israel, including the Privacy Protection Act, 5741-1981 and its regulations. Any disputes arising under this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Tel Aviv, Israel.
